Drunk Man Drives Wrong Way On LIE: Police
The 56-year-old was seen driving eastbound in the westbound HOV lane, police say.

SYOSSET, NY - A New Jersey man was arrested after driving drunk the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway in Syosset on Sunday morning, according to Nassau Police.
Police responded to a 911 call for a vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes on the LIE at about 3:03 a.m.
Officer responded to the area and saw a car, driven by 56-year-old Jaime Rivas, near exit 40 driving the wrong way in the HOV lane, police said.

The 2007 Mercedes Benz had passed several vehicles and trucks before making a U-turn out of the HOV lane, across all lanes of traffic and come to a stop on the shoulder of the highway near exit 44, police said
A vehicular traffic stop was conducted. The officer noticed Rivas had slurred speech and red glassy blood shot eyes as well as alcohol emanating from inside the car, police said.

He was placed under arrest at 3:30 a.m. There were no accidents or injuries.
Rivas is being charged with DWI, first degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, driving the wrong way, use of a portable electronic device and imprudent speed, police said.
