East Norwich Fire Department First Deputy Chief Griffin Rosen directed between 100 and 120 firefighters and saved the estate, but not before the roof partially collapsed, Newsday reports.

NBC New York reported that while fire officials referred to the building as a "mansion," it appeared to be smaller based on footage. Firefighters told NBC flames were shooting through the roof, they dealt with heavy smoke and it took about an hour to get the fire under control.
