Get Out: Weekend Planner, July 8-10

Here are some fun events for the family this weekend.

There’s a flower show, an opening of a play, a bat walk, dancing and a free concert, all happening this weekend to help you get out and enjoy the summer.

1. Flower Show: Eye on New York

Where/When: Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, 1395 Planting Fields Rd, Oyster Bay, 516-759-6691, Sunday July 10 @ 1:30-4 p.m.

Why Go: See the display of over 200 daylily varieties from Long Island Gardens, hosted by the Long Island Daylily Society, it will also include information about growing daylilies at home.

Pricing: Free, $8.00 parking fee.

2. Altar Boyz

Where/When: 625 Old Country Rd., Plainview, 516-694-3330, culturalartsplayhouse.com, weekly, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through July 31. Friday and Saturday @ 8 p.m., Sunday @ 7 p.m.

Why Go: See the musical comedy that centers on a fictitious Christian boy band from Ohio.

Pricing: $20.

3. Bat Walk

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd., Old Westbury, 516-333-0048, oldwestburygardens.org., Saturday July 9 @ 7 p.m.

Why Go: Rachel Bricklin, a Bat biologist will give a talk on bat ecology and conservation then lead a walk through the gardens to listen and look for bats.

Pricing: $5, 17 and under free accompanied by an adult.

4. Big Band Dance

Where/When:The Metropolitan, 3 Pratt Blvd., Glen Cove, 631-368-4361, markenmusic.com., Friday July 8 @ 7-10 p.m.

Why Go: Dancing that features Ballroom, Swing, Pop, Latin and more, cash dinner and bar available, couples/singles welcome.

Pricing: $20.00.

5. "Bye Bye Birdie”

Where/When: Eisenhower Park, Hempstead Tpke. and Merrick Ave., East Meadow, 516-599-6870, plazatheatrical.com., Sunday July 10 @ 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: See the classic rock and roll musical set in 1960 as teen idol Conrad Birdie is being drafted into the army, presented by Plaza Theatrical Productions.
