Lots of Energy, Activity, Sportsmanship, And Fun Raises $$$ for Autism
Recap of Alley Oop for Autism 2017 at Jericho High School.
Life's WORC/The Family Center For Autism, a Garden City headquartered non-profit organization was a huge beneficiary from the eleventh annual, "Alley Oop For Autism" held at Jericho High School this past Saturday. "About 1000 people, mainly from the Jericho and Syosset communities are connected to this event," describes Justin Resnick, the founder. Justin, an avid basketball player since his childhood, launched "Alley Oop For Autism" when he was a member of Jericho High's basketball team. He was inspired by his mother, Lauren, through her career in early intervention and special education. Although Justin graduated from Jericho HS, going onto play basketball as a college student at Emory University, going onto a career at Houlihan Lokey---he has made an annual date spearheading the "Alley Oop" Jericho HS occasion.
Besides an estimated 350 basketball competitors (each playing three ten minute games) yesterday who ranged from small children to senior citizens, there were hundreds of parents and supporters who contributed money, provided sponsorship, and offered cheers as spectators.

An estimated $90,000 was raised which will help underwrite programs at The Family Center For Autism, which was established about three years ago, where more than 100 people with autism are enrolled. Volunteering to make "Alley Oop" a success included Justin's father, Peter Resnick, and his sister, Marissa, who played basketball at Queens College (and who works in special education).
