Eighth grade researchers discover nanotechnology through hands-on workshops at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

zoomed in on nanotechnology on a recent trip to the Brookhaven National Laboratory. Eighth graders doing research projects were led through interactive workshops and toured the immense labs in Upton. After learning the basics of nanotechnology, they were taught how it applies to everyday technologies, including cosmetics, beauty products, food science and automobile engineering.
"You'll never have to repaint a car again thanks to nanopaint," explained one eighth grade research student.

The students presented their findings at a science fair-style “Nanotechnology Showcase” where teachers and peers had the opportunity to ask the students questions about their projects and conclusions.
