Police Seek Man Who Tried to Rob Bank in Bethpage

The incident occurred Tuesday morning, police say.

Nassau Police are seeking the public’s help in investigating an attempted bank robbery that occurred Tuesday at 10:55 a.m. in Bethpage.

Detectives say a man entered the Chase Bank at 4276 Hempstead Turnpike. He approached a teller and gave both a demand note and verbal instructions.

His actions alerted other employees and when his initial demands were not met, the man fled the bank. He was last seen heading east through the parking lot towards Randal Drive without any proceeds, police said.

The man was described as between 35 and 40 years old and 6-feet tall. He was wearing a NY Yankees baseball cap, sunglasses, a black baggy shirt and dark colored cargo pants, according to police.

During the attempted robbery there were five employees and one customer present. No injuries were reported, police said.
