SPTF 12th Annual Piano Competition

Atom Tamamoto Ties First Place

Congratulations to first place winner, Atom Tamamoto! He tied first place with Gilda DelBianco in the late advanced division at the Suffolk Piano Teachers Foundation's 12th Annual Piano Competition on March 25 and 26, 2017. Atom is a twelfth grade senior at Syosset High School of Syosset. Students competed for cash prizes, medals, and a chance to perform on a renowned concert stage and registered to compete in the five-leveled divisions at the Steinway Piano Gallery of Melville, located at 505 Walt Witman Road in Melville, New York. SPTF wishes to honor Barry Tognolini and thank Steinway Gallery of Long Island for their generous cash award donation for first place winners. All performers were provided with written feedback from adjudicators.

On Thursday, June 1, 2017, first, second, and third place winners will receive their medals at a special Awards Ceremony held in-between two Honors Recitals at Stony Brook University's Staller Center Recital Hall at 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Atom, as a first place winner, will receive his cash prize and play his winning piece, "Liebesleid" by Kreisler-Rachmaninoff, at this event, among performances of other honored students throughout Long Island. The event is free and open to the public.
