Syosset Woman Charged With String of Home Burglaries: Police
The woman entered or attempted to enter four homes over the past two weeks, police say.

A woman was arrested Thursday for committing a string of home burglaries in Hicksville over the past few weeks, police say.
According to authorities, Syeda Bukhari, 47, of Syosset, entered or attempted to enter four homes at some point between Friday, Dec. 23 and Thursday, Jan. 5, including:
- A 5th Street home where she entered through a rear window at some point between December 23 and 26, police say. No items were reported stolen.
- A Division Avenue home where she entered through a rear window, stayed in the home for a period of time and stole jewelry at some point between December 24 and 29, police say.
- An Underhill Avenue home where she entered the home through a rear glass door, ate food and stole other items from the home at some point between December 27 and 28, police say.
- A 5th Street homeowner heard his rear glass window break Thursday at 5:50 a.m. The man went to investigate and saw Bukhari reportedly attempting to enter the home. She fled the scene without gaining entry, police say.
An investigation led to the arrest of Bukhari inside of Wendy’s in Hicksville on Thursday at 10 p.m.

She was charged with four counts of second-degree burglary and will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
