Westbury Man Arrested in Connection to Fatal Shooting
The shooting occurred Monday night, police say.

UNIONDALE, NY - A Westbury man was arrested on Wednesday in connection to the Uniondale shooting on Monday night, according to Nassau County Police.
Joel Arquimides Ayala Deras, 35, was arrested and charged with second degree murder and will be arraigned on Wednesday.

First Precinct police officers responded to a 911 call for shots fired followed by a “ShotSpotter” call by Macon Place and Irving Place at about 9:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, they saw 37-year-old German Ismael Saravia Melendez lying on his left side shot multiple times, police said.

He was pronounced dead at 10:06 p.m. by a Nassau County Ambulance medical technician.
