23-Year-Old Woman in Critical Condition After Jericho House Fire

Officials could not determine the cause of the blaze, police say.

A 23-year-old woman is in critical condition after suffering from internal burns and smoke inhalation during a Jericho house fire Friday afternoon, police say.

The Jericho Fire Department responded to a Fern Drive West residence at 1:46 p.m. to find the home fully engulfed in flames.

The woman victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment while another victim, a 48-year-old man, refused medical attention.

The flames were eventually extinguished with help from numerous area fire departments and firefighters.

The Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad along with the Nassau County Fire Marshal responded to the scene and could not determine the cause of the fire, police say.
