Woodbury Jewish Center Pre-K Program Takes Giant LEAP Forward

Early Education Program Adds LEAP Room with STEAM program to Prepare Children for Kindergarten

As a leader in early childhood education on Long Island, the Woodbury Jewish Center Vivien Grossman Early Childhood Education Program continues to invest in the future of children and families. WJC began the school year with a new LEAP Room (Learning-Exploration-Adventure-Play) and its STEAM based enrichment programs (Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math). Time learning in the LEAP Room is the highlight of the day for most WJC students. The new Babies & Bagels Program for three to twelve month olds regularly provides guest speakers and instructors to keep the program fun and interesting for both parents and babies. WJC added a half hour of gymnastics to their popular Two Together Program and coming in January is a Young Toddler Separation Program for children who turn two years old between December, 2017 and March 2018.

Cindy Common, director of Woodbury’s Early Education Program, cultivates a child centered, developmentally appropriate method of teaching that is recognized as best practice among educators. Through robust programming with nurturing teachers, WJC continues to foster creative, self-reliant, responsible risk-takers and emotionally confident children.

“Pre-K children graduating from WJC Early Childhood are well prepared for the rigors of Kindergarten,” explains Common, “They leave us with a love of learning that is quite gratifying as educators.”
