Judge won't chang bail for woman charged with murder in DWI crash that killed child (cnycentral.com) — A Syracuse judge has refused to lower the $500,000 bail for Jazmine Vann, who is charged with murder in a July DWI crash that killed a 3-year-old girl and injured a 7-year-old boy. Syracuse police had previously warned her not to drive, and two relatives now also face serious charges, while another adult has pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate.

Syracuse Westcott Theater's future discussed at public hearing before key vote (syracuse.com) — Syracuse's Common Council will vote Monday on whether to revoke the Westcott Theater's operating permit after a year of violent incidents and licensing disputes, a move that could permanently close the venue. At a packed public hearing, most speakers urged finding safety solutions instead of shutting it down, stressing the theater's importance to Westcott Street businesses, nightlife, and Syracuse's Black arts community.
   

3. See Central NY schools ranked by geometry Regents exams (newyorkupstate.com) — Central New York's latest geometry Regents results are out, and they show several high-performing schools across the region, including Skaneateles Senior High in Onondaga County. Using new state Education Department data, the rankings highlight which nearby districts excelled on both the older Common Core exam and the new geometry test, helping Syracuse-area families gauge local math performance.
   

4. Oswego County TodayState Police holding lost property from 2026 New York State Fair (oswegocountytoday.com) — If you lost a phone, wallet, or bag at the 2026 New York State Fair, State Police may have it secured at SP North Syracuse on North Constellation Way. Syracuse-area residents can call ahead, describe their item, show proof of ownership, and present ID to schedule a pickup and reclaim their belongings.
   

5. UU puts Juice Jam on 'indefinite hiatus,' Quad-A-Palooza replaces (dailyorange.com) — Syracuse University students won't see the traditional Juice Jam concert this fall, as University Union has put the long-running event on indefinite hiatus. Instead, UU will debut Quad-A-Palooza on Sept. 25, promising student performers, local food vendors, and carnival-style activities while redirecting resources toward this new festival and the spring concert.
