3 Teens Make Video Trespassing On New TZB, Get Arrested: WATCH

The video, uploaded to YouTube, show the trio from start to finish.

TARRYTOWN, NY — Three young men were arrested for allegedly trespassing on the new Tappan Zee Bridge construction and then posting a YouTube video about what they did. A State Police said they received a report of criminal trespass on the under-construction Mario Cuomo Bridge, the replacement for the Tappan Zee Bridge.

Spokesman Trooper Michael Cassella told the Journal News that the three men “basically videotaped themselves committing a crime.” (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

The three teens, whose names were not released, were arrested, processed at the Tarrytown barracks and charged with third-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.

“Jeppy,” on whose YouTube account the video was published, wrote, “I wanted to try urban exploration for the first time and shoot some nice pictures, but it didn’t end well because we had to sprint a mile to escape a cop.”

The video shows the three making their way onto the bridge construction site, scaling over walls and going up ladders.

One of the three said he was seen by a construction worker, who was then seen talking to a member of law enforcement.

Tappan Zee Constructors, the builders of the bridge, issued a statement about the incident.

“The safety and security of the project site are top priorities for us. Earlier this summer, three young men were detected breaking into the project site,” said TZC Spokesman Damien LaVera. “After gathering evidence, we turned the matter over to the State Police, who quickly made arrests. We appreciate the swift and professional response by the State Police. Since this is an ongoing law enforcement matter we will have no further comment.”
