In Photos: Hundreds of Kids Play Scientists at Local Biotech Company
Columbus Day marked Regeneron's annual Future Scientists event, when the children of employees get to experiment with mystery powders and more.
While most school-age children were enjoying their Columbus Day off on Monday, the 210 children of employees at local Biotech company Regeneron were tackling genetics, biochemistry, and experimenting with mystery powders.
Regeneron hosted its annual Future Scientists event, pairing kids from kindergarten to high school seniors with PhDs and industry experts for a full day of hands-on science experiences and an introduction to a biotechnology company.
In an age when America seems to fall short on science, a day like this can give us hope for a brighter, smarter, future. The event was educational, and perhaps more importantly, a good time for all involved.
“Columbus Day day most children have a holiday from school at the same time their parents have to work. It’s proven to be a winning combination for this annual event, so, to Regeneron employees, Columbus Day is a time to spend the entire day teaching our kids that science is lots of fun,” said Associate Director of Corporate Communications, Laura Lindsay.
