In Photos: Sampling the New Captain Lawrence Tasting Room
Roomier digs makes for happy drinkers at Captain Lawrence's Elmsford space.
Captain Lawrence will have no trouble filling its large new tasting room, as evidenced by the eager crowds there its augural first week. The official party for the new Elmsford location was Saturday, but even the night prior the room was full of people waiting behind a red-roped line to re-fill their growlers or taste and taste and taste their way through the five beers on tap.
A sign on the wall states that by NY State Liquor Law you can enjoy no more than two three-ounce glasses of each beer, which adds up to a generous amount.
One man came on his bike straight from work. Though he lives in Pleasantville and was sad to see the place move further from his home, now it's only a few minutes away from work. (His wife came to pick him up, and bring chips).

The big change from the old space is not only the abundance of elbow room but the $2 charge for the tasting glass you must buy to partake. No one seemed to mind getting to leave with a keepsake (which you can bring back every time you come). The brewery wins too as the staff no longer has to wash those little glasses.
Captain Lawrence is now open at 444 Saw Mill River Road. Note that you enter to the right rear of the building past the fenced in UHaul trucks in an area with limited parking (look for the Silo and loading dock). You can also park in front of the building, or enter from Clearbook Road and use another lot there. Hours are also expanded: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: Retail, 2pm - 7pm, Samples 4pm - 7pm. Saturdays, Retail & Samples, 12 noon to 6pm; Tours, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm.
