Lyft Driver Sexually Assaults Passenger: PD

Police said he also threatened a party of four at knifepoint.

GREENBURGH, NY — A Lyft driver was accused of threatening passengers with a knife and sexually assaulting one of them.

The New York State Police said Manuel A. Nunez, 27, of Mount Vernon, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, felonies, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors.

On Thursday, police said troopers received a complaint about a Lyft driver sexually assaulting the caller at knifepoint.

An investigation found Nunez was working as a Lyft driver and he picked up a party of four people.

While driving, police said, he began displaying pornographic material on his cell phone in view of a child under the age of 17.

Nunez when threatened the people with a knife and sexually assaulted one of them, police said.

He was arraigned in the Town of Greenburgh Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, $100,000 secure bond or $150,000 partially secure bond.

Nunez is next scheduled to appear in court Dec. 17.
