Public Hearings on Proposed Hudson River Anchorage Sites Likely in Spring
Ten new anchoring spots would be established if the Coast Guard's plan comes to fruition.

TARRYTOWN, NY — After the September 7 deadline to make a written comment on the Coast Guard’s proposed Hudson River anchorage sites is over, the public will likely have to wait until the spring to voice their concerns in a public hearing.
Public officials have urged the Coast Guard to hold public meetings or hearings on the 10 proposed sites and the agency has said they will be part of the process, according to the Journal News.
Requests from the Maritime Association of the Port of NY/NJ Tug and Barge Committee, the Hudson River Port Pilot’s Association and the American Waterways Operators for new anchoring spots prompted the Coast Guard to consider putting 10 new anchorage grounds in the Hudson River from Yonkers to Kingston.
