Stores, Big and Small, Extend Hours for the Holidays

The holiday season is upon us and local stores have responded by extending their business hours.

Stores in the Stony Brook Village Center have adopted a 10 a.m. though 6 p.m. schedule every day except Thursday, on which they'll stay open until 8 p.m.

Bob Bochicchio, owner of DCB Hobbies, may sum it up best. "At this time of year, everyone's going nuts," he said. "There's no set times. We have the times on the window, but we're going to stay open (as long as necessary)."

In lieu of extended hours, has a unique approach. They're offering personal shopping hours by appointment only where only one customer will be in the store.
