Police: Home Health Aide Stole Jewelry From Patient
The woman allegedly stole over $3,000 worth of jewelry from a Coram home last month.

A home health aide was arrested on Tuesday for stealing jewelry from a patient she was caring for during the past month, according to Suffolk County Police.
Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives initiated an investigation on May 9 when a 74-year-old Coram woman reported numerous pieces of jewelry, worth over $3,000, had been stolen from her home between May 1 and May 9, police said.
Melissa Acevedo, 27, of Selden, who was working for the victim as a home health aide, was arrested and charged with third degree grand larceny, according to police.

Acevedo was employed by Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk County. She is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
