Seawolf Scoreboard: Women's Swimming and Diving Wins ECAC

Men's basketball drops its third straight heartbreaker.

Swimming and Diving

The women's team won the ECAC open, topping second place Stevens Institute of Technology by half a point on Sunday. Junior Taylor Crosby scored 113 points by winning the 200 IM – which set an ECAC record – and taking second in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 400 IM. Anastasia Kiryushkina finished first in the 200 breast and set a new school record, and Renee Deschenes broke her own record when she won the 200 back, set earlier this year. The Seawolves also had three top ten finishers in the 50 free with Allison Zelnick (3rd), MaryKate Morcerf (7th), and Kelsey Stranc (10th). The men's squad finished in fourth place out of 15 teams, with 727 points. The men won the 400 free relay, breaking an ECAC record in the process. Lukasz Ochmanski had the highest individual score for the men's team with 81 points, finishing tied for 16th overall, and set a meet record with his win in the 200 free.

Men's Basketball

Columbia 73, Stony Brook 72: The Seawolves shot a season high 49.1 percent from the floor but dropped another nailbiter by one point for their third straight loss. Al Rapier had played an all-around game with ten points, seven rebounds and five assists. Danny Carter and Bryan Dougher each had 13 points to lead the Seawolves. The Lions outrebounded the Stony Brook 40-28, including 15 offensive boards, and Stony Brook has lost the last three games by a total of 8 points. It's the team's first three-game losing streak since November 2008.

Lehigh 79, Stony Brook 76 (OT): Bryan Dougher scored 26 points and shot 50 percent from the floor and behind the arc, but the Seawolves fell in overtime last Wednesday. Read the full story .

Women's Basketball

Iona 71, Stony Brook 67: Kirsten Jeter notched her first double double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds, but the Gaels went on a 9-0 run late to take over the game. Sam Landers scored 15 points and Destiny Jacobs added 14 points to go with her 7 rebounds. Iona took 23 foul shots to Stony Brook's 12. Stony Brook finishes the five game homestand at 2-3 and is 3-4 overall. They will play 8 of their next 9 games on the road.

Stony Brook 68, Fairleigh Dickinson 51: The Seawolves jumped out to a 20-8 first half lead and would never relinquish it. Sam Landers scored 14 points and added 4 assists and the Seawolves scored 24 points off FDU turnovers. Gerda Gatling was the only other Seawolf in double figures with 10 points, and she added 9 rebounds while Destiny Jacobs scored 8 points with 9 boards. Stony Brook held an opponent under 35 percent shooting for the first time this season.

Monmouth 74, Stony Brook 60: Kirsten Jeter led the team 18 points and 9 rebounds, but Monmouth held the Seawolves to 37.7 percent shooting (3-11 from behind the arc) for a 14-point victory. Jeter is now Stony Brook's 10th leading scorer all time with 1,146 points. Taylor Burner scored 11 points in 13 minutes.

Track and Field

The Track and Field season began last Friday at the Fordham Season Opener. Page Price won the mile event with teammates Kristal Conklin and Robin Lynn finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Stephen Reilly ran a 7.1 to win the 60-meter dash. Freshmen Carlos Roa (3rd), Nicholas Lemon (4th) and Kevin Thorp (5th) all finished in the top 5 of the 3,000.
