Three Village Students Recognize Fire Safety Month
The Setauket Fire Department spoke to students.

In celebration of fire safety month, elementary students throughout the Three Village School District learned how to stay safe in the case of an emergency with the help of the local fire departments.
At Minnesauke Elementary School, representatives from the Setauket Fire Department spoke with the kindergarten through second-graders about the protective gear firefighters wear when entering a burning building and the importance of having a predetermined escape plan in the event of a fire. Following the discussion, the students had the chance to step aboard an actual fire truck and take an up-close look at the equipment the firefighters use.
At the end of the visit, students received a commemorative firefighter hat and activity book. They were also encouraged to share the lessons they learned during the program with their family and friends.
