1 Injured In Lenox Hill Fire, FDNY Says

The fire was in a 17-story building where a new preschool​ is set to open this spring.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — One person was injured in a fire that broke out on the second floor of an apartment building in Lenox Hill on Monday morning, New York City Fire Department officials said.

The fire started around 11:15 a.m. at 307 East 63rd St., between First Avenue and Second Avenue, the FDNY said.

The fire was in a 17-story building, one floor above where a new Goddard preschool is set to open this spring.

The FDNY said 120 firefighters responded to the fire and got it under control by 12:22 p.m.

One person was evaluated on site by medics but refused transport to a hospital for further evaluation, the FDNY said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, fire officials said.
