What does it really take to build a championship team? David Rubenstein — bestselling author and principal owner of the Baltimore Orioles — offers a rare look inside the highest levels of professional sports in a conversation about his new book, Inside the Owner’s Box: Conversations on Power and Leadership in Sports.

Joining Rubenstein as moderator is former Baltimore Orioles great, Hall of Famer and all-time “Iron Man,” Cal Ripken Jr., who broke Lou Gehrig’s 56-year record of consecutive games played in 1995. Ripken, a 19-time Major League Baseball All-Star, played in 2,632 consecutive games in his storied career, and while he starred at shortstop, the Orioles went to the playoffs several times, winning the World Series in 1983.

Creating a winning sports franchise isn’t just about winning the game — it’s about building a team, a fanbase, and a professional organization that work in tandem. In Inside the Owner’s Box, drawing on candid interviews with some of America’s most influential team owners — and his own experience revitalizing the Baltimore Orioles — David Rubenstein explores the strategies, decisions, and leadership philosophies that shape today’s most successful sports organizations. Through conversations with Robert Kraft of the New England Patriots, Jeff Lurie of the Philadelphia Eagles, Clara Wu Tsai of the Brooklyn Nets, and many others, Rubenstein uncovers the realities of the business of professional sports. But Inside the Owner’s Box is about more than business. It is also about the love of the game — and a revealing study of leadership, competition, and the culture-building that resonates far beyond the world of sports.

Whether you’re a devoted fan, curious about the forces that shape the games we love, or simply interested in the culture of leadership, join Rubenstein for a lively conversation about ambition, teamwork, and what it means to build a legacy in sports.

Each in-person ticket will include a complimentary copy of the book.
