Italian Restaurant Sistina to Move to New Location on Upper East Side

The Upper East Side Italian staple has closed at the location it occupied for three decades. It plans to re-open after Labor Day.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Upper East Side Italian staple Sistina has served its last meal at 155 Second Avenue.

As of the weekend, the restaurant officially closed at the location it has occupied for three decades, Eater New York reported. The restaurant will move to a new location at 24 E. 81st St., between Fifth and Madison avenues, reported Eater.

"I am very sad,’’ restaurant owner Giuseppe Bruno told Eater. "I opened in 1983 and spent most of my life here.’’

Sistina will be moving into the brownstone that was formerly the home of Crown, another Upper East Side dining spot. Sistina will be getting a re-vamped lunch menu and a more casual atmosphere when it moves it launches after Labor Day, Bruno told Eater.

"Younger people who came to the restaurant before sometimes felt a little uncomfortable because people were in suits and ties, we had $500 show plates and it was a little bit stiff. Now if you come with beautiful jeans and a blazer, that will be good."
