UES Lawmakers Back Alex Bores For Congress In NY-12
Upper East Side lawmakers are banding together.
UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — State Sen. Liz Krueger and Assemblymember Rebecca Seawright have endorsed fellow East Sider Alex Bores in the race to succeed Congressman Jerry Nadler, giving the Assemblymember the backing of two of the Upper East Side’s longest-serving elected officials.
The endorsements carry particular significance on the Upper East Side, where Krueger, Seawright and Bores represent overlapping portions of the district.
Bores has also secured endorsements from several East Side political figures, including former Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, former City Councilmember Ben Kallos and Assembly candidate Vanessa Aronson.

"I've watched the candidates on the campaign trail and in the debate, thought hard about this race, and I came away certain that Alex Bores is the best candidate for this district," Krueger said in her endorsement.
Seawright, who said she has known Bores since before his election to the State Assembly, praised his record and determination.

"I am proud to endorse and highly recommend Assemblymember Alex Bores to serve as the next Congressmember of the 12th District," Seawright said, calling him "an unrelenting fighter."
The endorsements are the latest sign that candidates in the crowded Democratic primary are continuing to assemble support from elected officials, advocacy groups and political organizations ahead of voting, which starts on Saturday.
Bores is one of seven Democrats competing for the NY-12 seat: Assemblymember Micah Lasher, Christopher Diep, civil rights attorney Laura Dunn, public health advocate Nina Schwalbe, Kennedy family member Jack Schlossberg and attorney George Conway.
Lasher has earned endorsements from Nadler, City Comptroller Mark Levine, Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal and City Councilmember Gale Brewer. Meanwhile, Schlossberg has earned endorsements from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as well as several labor and advocacy groups, while Conway has attracted support from gun-safety organizations.
The district includes the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Midtown, Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea, Union Square, Stuyvesant Town and Central Park.
The Democratic primary is scheduled for June 23, and the general election will be held Nov. 3.
