Woman Attacked In UES Subway Station, Police Say

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — Police are searching on Monday for a suspect who attacked a 23-year-old woman in the 59 Street/Lexington Avenue subway station, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the victim was inside the station at 8:20 a.m. on Friday when an argument broke out between the victim and the suspect. Police did not say what the argument was about.

The suspect struck the victim in the face with a cellphone and then boarded a northbound 6 train, police said.

Medics took the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.

Police have not made any arrests yet and have released surveillance photos of the suspect, who was last seen wearing a gray cap, gray shirt, gray pants, and white sneakers.
