13 Arrested At Manhattan Nurse Strike Protest, Police Say
According to the NYPD, the 13 protestors were taking part in a demonstration as part of the ongoing nurse strike.
HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — Thirteen protestors were arrested while picketing outside the League of Voluntary Hospitals on the border of Hell's Kitchen and the Upper West Side on Thursday afternoon, New York City Police Department officials said.
According to the NYPD, the 13 protestors were taking part in a demonstration as part of the ongoing nurse strike, which began Jan. 12 at three private hospital systems after reaching a stalemate in negotiations over wages and health care.
Thursday's demonstration was in front of 555 West 57th St., between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue, police said. Protestors began to be arrested at 1:30 p.m. for blocking the entryway to the building, police said.

Police said the protestors were given "multiple orders" to disperse before making arrests.
The charges against the protestors are pending, police said.
