4 Upper West Side School Improvements Funded Through Participatory Budgeting
Residents voted on how to allocate $1 million toward neighborhood improvement projects.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Improvements to four neighborhood schools won funding during this year's participatory budgeting cycle, according to City Councilwoman Helen Rosenthal.
More than 3,000 residents Upper West Siders voted during this year's participatory budgeting cycle, Rosenthal said. The Councilwoman called this year's vote the most successful to date.
The projects that won funding are:

- Library Upgrade for P.S. 166 — 1,834 votes
- Air Conditioning for P.S. 9 and Center School Gym — 1,398 votes
- Technology Upgrades at Frank McCourt High School — 1,310 votes
- Schoolyard Renovation at P.S. 84 — 1,304 votes
Here's a full list of the projects included in this year's participatory budgeting vote:
- Digital Project System for New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, $250,000;
- Video Surveillance System for P.S. 75 and M.S. 250, $400,000;
- Schoolyard Renovation at P.S. 84, $450,000;
- Basketball Court Renovations at Wise Towers, $175,000;
- Library Upgrade for P.S. 166, $295,000;
- Technology Upgrades at Frank McCourt High School, $125,000;
- Air Conditioning for P.S. 9 and Center School Gym, $400,000;
- Beautification and Renovation of Broadway Malls, $350,000;
- Upgrades to 72nd Street Dog Run, $150,000;
- Renovations at Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center, $500,000;
