Artisanal Ice Cream Shop To Open On Upper West Side, Report Says

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream will open an outpost on Amsterdam Avenue this spring.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An ice cream business that started as a single truck 10 years ago and now has seven brick and mortar New York City locations is set to open its newest store on the Upper West Side, according to reports.

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream has secured a 1,00-square-foot store at 448 Amsterdam Avenue, the New York Post first reported. The store will occupy the ground floor and some basement space of the five-story apartment building located between West 81st and 82nd streets, the Post reported.

Van Leeuwen serves up both vegan and dairy flavors made with simple ingredients. The dairy flavors are made of milk, cream, sugar and egg yolks whereas the vegan flavors are made of cashew milk, coconut milk, extra virgin coconut oil, sugar, cocoa butter and carob bean, according to the business' website.
