Danish Home Goods Store to Open on Upper West Side

The Upper West Side is getting its own Flying Tiger Copenhagen, a popular home goods store from Denmark.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Upper West Side is about to get a taste of Danish. The country, not the dessert.

Home goods store Flying Tiger Copenhagen is opening its newest New York City outpost on the Upper West Side on on Saturday, Aug. 13, according to a press release. The store will be located on Columbus Avenue between West 80th and West 81st streets.

"The opening of our Upper West Side store is a key milestone in Flying Tiger Copenhagen's development. We have a solid strategy built on an unique and authentic concept that has allowed us to successfully open four New York stores in a very short time," Xavier Vidal, CEO of Flying Tiger Copenhagen, said in the press release.

The 2,000 square-foot location on the Upper West Side will be the retailer's fourth location in New York City, according to the press release. Flying Tiger Copenhagen lists stores on the Upper East Side, and the Flatiron District on its website.

The store is planning to hold a grand opening at 10 a.m on Saturday. During the opening 100 customers will receive a free tote bag, and everybody will receive Danish butter cookies. Customers will also be able to compete in a drawing contest for a back-to-school kit.
