Faith Groups To Show Solidarity At Upper West Side Church
Groups representing a number of religions will hold a "gathering of solidarity, hope and action" at the Fourth Universalist Society.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An Upper West Side church will host dozens of faith groups from around New York City in a "gathering of solidarity, hope and action," this week.
The Fourth Universalist Society, on Central Park West between West 75th and 76th street, will host the "Yes to Love, No to Hate" gathering on Wednesday at 6 p.m., according to a Facebook event page. As of this writing nearly 50 groups representing a number of different religions will participate in the interfaith gathering.
"This is a time for NYC’s communities of faith to come together to reaffirm our shared spiritual values, to gain strength, and to affirm our commitment to each other in the fight against oppression," reads a Facebook page for the event.

The gathering was organized because the United States are experiencing a "moment of spiritual crisis," according to organizers. In March, the Fourth Universalist Society was a victim of hateful vandalism when two swastikas were carved into the church's wooden doors.
"We need each other. We need to declare together, across differences of faith and race, that there is no room for hate in our congregations, in our city and in our nation," gathering organizers wrote on Facebook.
