Homeless Shelter On UWS Sits Above 1 Of World's Best Wine Cellars
Wine Spectator named Nice Matin among the 100 best restaurants for wine in the world in 2020.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A building on the corner of West 79th and Amsterdam recently converted into a homeless shelter for 283 men with substance abuse problems also houses one of the world's best wine restaurants, according to Wine Spectator.
The majority of the 201 West 79th location is occupied by The Lucerne, a luxury hotel that was converted into a homeless shelter on July 27th.
The ground floor of the building holds Nice Matin, a high-end French restaurant that was named a Grand Award Winner as one of the 100 most "extraordinary wine programs" in the world by the magazine Wine Spectator.

Wine Spectator, a leading authority on wine, was unable to conduct its usual in-person inspections for a new Grand Award list due to the coronavirus. However, the magazine still dished out the title to 100 restaurants in 2020.
Wine Spectator assembled its 2020 list of the Best Restaurants for Wine based on eateries "commitment to wine service."

Here's what they said about Nice Matin:
"Nice Matin delivers a high-caliber wine program in the comfortable charm of a French bistro on Manhattan's bustling Upper West Side," Wine Spectator wrote in a blurb for the UWS restaurant. "The wine director hunts for values from just outside famed regions to create an especially accessible, well-priced list."
Nice Matin is currently open for outdoor dining.
