Jacob's Pickles To Reopen On Upper West Side 7 Months After Four-Alarm Fire

Upper West Side brunch favorite Jacob's Pickles will reopen Sept. 14, seven months after a four-alarm

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Popular Upper West Side brunch destination Jacob's Pickles will reopen this week, seven months after a massive fire broke out next door to the restaurant.

Thursday night's dinner service at Jacob's Pickles will mark the reopening of the Amsterdam Avenue eatery that serves up southern-inspired dishes, a restaurant spokesman told Patch. The restaurant, located on Amsterdam Avenue between West 84th and 85th streets, suffered extensive damage and flooding during a February fire.

When Jacob's Pickles reopens it will feature a revamped interior design as well as a new basement bar, a restaurant spokesman told Patch. The eatery will also debut a few new menu items, which remain a secret.

In the absence of Jacob's Pickles sister restaurant Maison Pickle — also owned and operated by Jacob Hadjigeorgis — has hosted the restaurant's brunch crowd. When Jacob's Pickles opens, Maison Pickle will introduce a new fall brunch menu of its own, a restaurant spokesman said.

On February 24, a fire broke out on the third floor of 511 Amsterdam Ave. — one door over from the comfort food hotspot. Flames were also reported in one of the building's shafts, according to fire officials.

One civilian and four firefighters suffered non life-threatening injuries during the fire, an FDNY spokesman told Patch. Dozens of fire units, containing around 170 firefighters, responded to the scene of the fire, the spokesman said.
