Pro Soccer Star Forced Out Of Upper West Side Apartment: Report
New York City Football Club's David Villa will have to find a new place to live after his Upper West Side rental was sold.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — New York City Football Club's captain David Villa may be an international soccer star, but that won't help him in Manhattan's cutthroat real estate market. The Spanish striker has reportedly been kicked out of his Upper West Side rental after the unit was sold to a tech executive, the New York Post reported.
Villa's rented pad in 80 Riverside Blvd recently changed hands for $8.4 million, according to the report. New owner Sam Jain, an executive at CheapOAir.com, wanted Villa out of the apartment so he could move in as soon as possible, an anonymous source told the Post.
But a source "close to Villa" disputed that the World Cup champion was booted from his home, and instead told the Post that Villa moved out by choice after finding a different unit in the same building.
