'Rail Condition' Stalls West Side Subway Service

Delays and service changes were in effect on northbound A and D trains Thursday.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A damaged rail brought subway service on the west side of Manhattan to a crawl Thursday afternoon, the MTA announced.

The rail condition at the West 72nd Street and Central Park West station forced the MTA to alter service on northbound A and D trains, the transit agency said. The damaged rail was first noticed around 1:15 p.m., according to the MTA.

Crews were able to repair the track and service resumed around 2:15 p.m., the MTA announced.
