Upper West Side Brunch Favorite Isabella's Closes After 3 Decades
A sign was posted on the restaurant's door Monday announcing Isabella's was closed.
UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Upper West Side brunch favorite Isabella's has closed suddenly after serving the neighborhood for more than 30 years. A sign announcing the closing was displayed in the West 77th Street and Columbus Avenue restaurant's front window Monday.
The phone number for the popular brunch spot was disconnected when Patch tried to call Monday morning. The Facebook and Twitter pages for the restaurant were also taken down.
A message left with Landry's, Inc., the hospitality corporation that recently bought up Isabella's, has not been returned. Tilman Fertitta, the billionaire owner of Landry's, recently acquired hospitality company BR Guest in December, Nation's Restaurant News reported. BR Guest had owned 15 restaurants in Manhattan, including Isabella's.

At the time, Fertitta said that "we don’t expect to make any changes,” regarding BR Guest's operations.
An Isabella's employee told the West Side Rag that the restaurant was closing because the landlord did not renew the business' lease.
