UWS Eatery Is World's 5th Most Expensive Michelin-Star Restaurant

Masa, a sushi eatery on the Upper West Side, costs around $800 per person, according to a recent ranking.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — It seems like a challenging feat, but Masa, a famed sushi eatery on the Upper West Side, is the fifth most expensive Michelin-star restaurant in the world, according to a recent ranking by Chef's Pencil.

The restaurant, located at 10 Columbus Circle, is run by renowned chef and sushi master Masayoshi Takayama.

A meal at Masa will cost you around $800, according to the research done by Chef's Pencil.

If you visit Masa's website, it says the price for its Omakase (chef's choice) is $650, not including beverage, tax and tip. Additionally, the UWS restaurant offers a Hinoki Counter Experience, which runs $800 a person with the same trio of costs not included.

Masa was the only Michelin-star restaurant in the United States to make the top 15 most expensive list.

Chef’s Pencil put together the ranking by analyzing the menus of over 450 Michelin-star restaurants in high-priced cities such as Tokyo, Paris, New York or San Francisco. For restaurants where prices were not easily available, we relied on media reporting, the Michelin Guide or restaurant reservation services such as Table All.
