UWS Student Is NY's Doodle For Google Winner
A student from the Collegiate School has the chance to have his art featured on the Google homepage.

NEW YORK, NY — Ryan Kim, an 11th grader at the Collegiate School on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is New York's winner of the Doodle for Google competition.
Kim joins 52 other winners nationwide with his doodle, "Symbiosis." He advances to the national stage of the competition for the chance to have his art work featured on the Google homepage.
The national winner will also receive a $30,000 college scholarship and his or her school will be given a $50,000 tech package to establish or improve a computer lab or technology program.

The judges for the national competition include late night host Jimmy Fallon, 2018 National Teacher of the Year Mandy Manning, and even Kermit the Frog.
This year's doodle competition was the 11th in its history, open to K-12 students, the theme for this year was, "When I grow up, I hope..."

Kim's Doodle statement was, "When I grow up, I hope that humans and animals will thrive together in a nature-friendly, modern world. My doodle features endangered species (African elephant, Amur leopard, vaquita) living alongside one another in a prosperous, sustainable city. Using renewable energy, urban agriculture, and energy-efficient transportation, we can preserve Earth’s incredible biodiversity.”
