A stretch of West End Avenue was blocked off to motorists and cyclists Wednesday morning.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY - A stretch of West End Avenue was shut down after a water main break flooded the street early Wednesday morning, police said.

The four-block stretch of West End Avenue between West 66th and 70th streets was inaccessible for cyclists and motorists Wednesday morning, the NYPD 20th Precinct - which patrols the southern half of the Upper West Side - announced early Wednesday.

The streets were shut down around 3:30 a.m. after a water main break on the avenue, police said. By Thursday morning the roadway had been completely fixed and traffic was restored in both directions, police said.
