UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A longtime Upper West Side business is doing its part to help feed homebound-elderly New Yorkers.

Acker Wines, which calls itself the oldest wine retailer in the United States, announced on Thursday a partnership with Citymeals on Wheels to help donate 10,000 meals to senior citizens who aren't able to leave their apartments.

Acker first opened in New York City on 76th and Columbus in 1904, and currently sits at 160 West 72nd Street.

Acker will donate the meals through its auction and retail platforms, starting with an online cooking demonstration on Sept. 10 from renowned chef and co-president of the Citymeals Board of Trustees, Daniel Boulud.

The evening's menu will get paired with wines from the Citymeals Collection, and Acker will donate a meal for each bottle purchased during the cooking demonstration.

The event will get followed by a virtual live auction Sept. 10 and 11 by Acker that you can take part in on its website. Acker will donate a meal for every bottle purchased during the auction.
