Broken carousels lead to postponement of convention (binghamtonhomepage.com) — Plans to bring the National Carousel Association convention to Greater Binghamton have been pushed to 2028, partly so the Vestal carousel has time to reopen. For Vestal residents, that means several more years to complete repairs on this historic ride, which could become a centerpiece attraction when carousel enthusiasts from around the country finally arrive.
   

2. Vestal Student Housing Complex Activates Virtual Leasing System (cnynews.com) — A major 516-bed student housing complex, The Marshall Binghamton, is rising along Vestal Parkway at Bunn Hill Road and has already begun leasing units virtually. Developers say the $70 million project, replacing a former Quality Inn used for emergency housing, is on track to open next August, adding nearly 200 apartments and new rental options near Binghamton University.
   

3. Broome County seeks repayment for Bunn Hill Road damage (binghamtonhomepage.com) — Broome County is repaving Bunn Hill Road in Vestal, including the stretch by Binghamton University and the new Retreat at Bunn Hill student housing complex, and wants the developer to help cover costs. The county coordinated work with earlier sewer line installation and is also adjusting guardrails to improve safety, though the exact reimbursement amount is still being negotiated.
   

4. Local liquor retailers expect minimal holiday shortages despite Canadian alcohol ban (wbng.com) — A new federal ban on packaged Canadian alcohol imports is unlikely to leave Vestal shoppers short on their favorite bottles this holiday season, according to Vestal Wine & Liquor's owner. He says most big-name brands can bypass tariffs by shipping in bulk containers, and some Canadian retaliatory measures have even increased local availability of certain bourbons.
   

5. Penn State announces schedule for 2026-27 wrestling season (sungazette.com) — Penn State's 2026-27 wrestling schedule includes a key stop in Vestal, where the Nittany Lions will wrestle three duals at a Collegiate Wrestling Duals event featuring Oregon State, Duke, and host Binghamton. Local fans can look forward to top-tier college wrestling coming to town in December 2026, with exact start times and TV details still to be announced.
