WANTAGH, NY – Wantagh Middle and High School students will all learn remotely on Monday, after a middle school student tested positive for COVID-19.

In a letter to parents sent on Sunday, Superintendent John C. McNamara said the closure will allow custodial staff to disinfect the buildings. Other school buildings in the district remain open.

All students in grades 6-12 will be on remote learning schedules Monday and have been directed to log into their Schoology account and follow their regular schedule from home.

McNamara said the school district will continue to work collaboratively with the Nassau County Department of Health tomorrow to complete contact tracing and any other measures that may be necessary.

"We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide you with updates as we learn more," McNamara said in the letter. "As always, the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff is our top priority."
