A similar letter was sent to the organization's Bay Shore location, police said.

Nassau police are investigating a bias incident that occurred in Woodbury on Thursday at 12 p.m.

Detectives say a 30-year-old female office worker at the Long Island Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Service Network at 20 Crossways Park Drive North received a letter from an unknown person that threatened gays and lesbians, as well as an unnamed worker, because of the organization they run.

A similar incident occurred at another LIGLBT Service Network’s location at 34 Park Avenue in Bay Shore on Thursday, and was addressed to CEO David Kilmnick, police said.

“These threatening letters are a reminder that despite advances in GLBT equality, homophobia and hate still exist and are very much alive,” Kilmnick wrote in a letter. “We must remain vigilant in our efforts to ensure Long Island is a safe and welcoming place for all GLBT people and families.”

That letter was the third threatening letter in 18 months sent to the Bay Shore community center. Suffolk County Police Department are continuing to investigate.
