SEAFORD, NY — While the FDNY is saying a final farewell to its fallen hero, one local neighbor is thinking about Timothy Klein, who was killed in a Canarsie fire last weekend.

The 31-year-old firefighter is being remembered for his altruistic nature.

He would build ramps, doors and other structures for first responders' families-- free of charge, Newsday reported.

One of those projects, completed just before Klein died, was at the home FDNY Lt. Jack Kirrane in Seaford. Kirrane's 12-year-old son Finley needs a wheelchair or walker in the house.

Klein's work was part of the Fight For Firefighters Foundation, ABC7 said.
