With High Gas Prices, Getaway Options Without Driving
Destination Long Island lists several spots to visit by Long Island Rail Road.

WANTAGH, NY — With the price of gasoline surging across Nassau and Suffolk counties, Long Islanders are looking for travel options that don't include their vehicles.
Tourist organization Destination Long Island has started a campaign to remind people about the best spots to visit in 2022 by train.
"The LIRR serves as a crucial transportation artery for Long Island and remains key to our economy and recovering tourism industry – underscored by our nation’s growing gas crisis," Kristen Jarnagin Reynolds, President & CEO of Discover Long Island, said in a statement. "With a 600% increase in domestic travel bookings since January, we’re seeing a hunger for new experiences and no-hassle travel."
