NWS: 2-3 Feet of Flooding Possible on Vulnerable Wantagh-Seaford Roads

The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning for Wantagh-Seaford, as well as all other South Shore areas in Nassau and western Suffolk.

The warning is in effect until 1 p.m.

The NWS says “minor to moderate” flooding is possible around times of the high tide cycles Tuesday morning. High tide in Massapequa Tuesday is at 10:47 a.m.

Vulnerable shore roads could experience 2-3 feet of flooding, the NWS said.

The NWS defines a coastal flood warning like this: A coastal flood warning means that flooding is expected or occurring. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water...And take appropriate action to protect life and property.

A wind advisory is also in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday with gusts predicted to reach 50 mph. A flood watch also will remain in effect for all of Long Island until 1 a.m. Wednesday.
