Holbrook Woman Critically Injured, 2 Others Hurt in 3-Car Crash

Icy road conditions were a factor in Holbrook crash, police say.

A Holbrook woman is in critical condition following a three-car crash in Holbrook Monday evening, police said.

According to police, 44-year-old Christopher Romano, of Holbrook, was driving his 2002 Jeep south on Patchogue-Holbrook Road when he apparently lost control of his vehicle on the Long Island Rail Road overpass due to icy road conditions at about 5:25 p.m.

The Jeep crossed into the northbound lanes of Patchogue-Holbrook Road and struck a 2001 Infiniti that was traveling north, police said. The Infiniti then spun out and was struck by a 1999 Ford Van that was traveling behind the Infiniti northbound on Patchogue-Holbrook Road, police said.

All three vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
