Cops: Man Arrested After Assaulting Officer in Manhasset
One officer was injured in the altercation, police say.

An Old Brookville man was arrested Sunday night after an altercation in Manhasset with police, leaving an officer injured, authorities said.
Nassau Police say they responded to a report of a disturbance at Green’s Pub at about 10:45 p.m. on Plandome Road in Manhasset. When police arrived Frank Filippelli, 31, of Old Brookville, ran from the scene.
According to detectives police then spotted Filippelli a few minutes later screaming as he ran across the street. The officers “followed Filippelli into an alleyway where they attempted to speak” to him, but he “again began to run away and slammed an officer into his patrol car,” police said in a news release.

“The officers continued to struggle with Filippelli at which time he began to punch an officer in the face and attempted to bite them,” according to the news release.
The officers were able to “get control of the defendant,” and placed him under arrest, police said.

One was officer was treated at a local hospital for injuries to his face and knees from the struggle, police said.
Filippelli is charged with second-degree assault and obstructing governmental administration. He was scheduled for arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
