Wantagh Men Who Popped Manhole Cover And Entered Sewers Under Investigation: PD (patch.com) — Residents in Wantagh are being alerted after several men reportedly removed a manhole cover at Wantagh Avenue and Jerusalem Avenue, climbed into the sewer system, and vanished before police and firefighters arrived. Authorities searched nearby tunnels but found no one and have not yet identified the individuals, keeping the unusual incident under active investigation.
   

2. Wantagh School District Welcomes 13 New Faculty Members (patch.com) — Wantagh families will see 13 new faculty members in classrooms this school year, as the district just wrapped up its annual new teacher orientation. The 17-person cohort, including three Wantagh High alums, met Superintendent John McNamara, toured the district, and began mentoring and workshop programs designed to support them as students return next week.

Liberty Utilities customers balk at its proposed water rate hikes (longislandpress.com) — If you live in Wantagh or North Wantagh, your Liberty Utilities water bill could jump by about $21 a month under a proposed rate hike now before state regulators. The plan would fund pipe replacements and water treatment upgrades, but Nassau officials and many customers are blasting the increases as unaffordable, pointing to already steep bills compared with nearby public water districts.

Pitbull says Dolly Parton 'believed in me when a lot of folks didn't' in moving tribute (zapgossip.com) — Fans at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh heard Pitbull pause his show to honor the late Dolly Parton, sharing how she believed in him early on and inspired his career.
