The office of Immigration &amp; Refugee Services is recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice to counsel, process, file, and represent clients before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and EOIR Immigration Court. Our organization provides essential support to Ukrainian Humanitarian parolees through the Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) Program. Through USARA, we help individuals and families achieve stability, economic independence, and successful integration into the community. We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. A 13-year-old boy riding a scooter across Sunrise Highway in Freeport Saturday night was seriously hurt after being struck by a car, police said.According to police, the teen was attempting to cross Sunrise at South Bayview Avenue on a foot-propelled scooter at 7:40 p.m. when he was hit by a westbound 2005 Buick. The boy suffered head and chest injuries, police said. He was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted in serious condition, police said. The driver of the vehicle, a 63-year-old woman, was not injured. Police said there is "no apparent criminality" in the crash at this time. Police did not release the name of the driver or the boy who was hit.
